The booster club meets at 6 pm on the first Wednesday of each month, meet in the triangle conference room after entering door A. Looking forward to see you tonight!

Due to the emergency day used on January 23, school will now be in session on Monday, March 2.

Dear Jefferson Families, Softball Tryouts will continue tomorrow at 3:30 PM, and we are still looking to add more athletes to the program. Students should meet in the gym at 3:30 PM. Join us as we celebrate an incredible winter season for our J-Hawks!

We will honor our winter student-athletes and activities participants as they receive their Varsity Letters, Senior Banners, and special team awards. This evening is dedicated to recognizing the hard work, leadership, and dedication our J-Hawks have shown all season long.

🕠 Athletes should arrive at 5:30 PM to be seated with their teams prior to the start of the program.

Families, friends, and community members are encouraged to attend as we celebrate our seniors and all of our winter participants who proudly represent Jefferson High School in red and gold.

Big cheers from RPS 205 school board! Jefferson senior Mikiah Gerrity was honored as Rockford’s 2026 Youth Poet Laureate. This Poetry Out Loud champ is headed back to state March 2! JHS Bowler Lukas Marinelli also shined at IHSA State, with Coach Alex Shaver leading the way.

At the Midwest Region Conference, Zaire McNeely of Jefferson HS placed Top 10 in Elevator Pitch—the first ever for its Virtual Enterprise program! Students demonstrated their business skills through visual, written, & oral competitions. Zaire presented his company, SolarSky.

This week, all RPS 205 high school juniors took part in College & Career Prep Week at The QUAD. Students rotated through mock interviews, resume building, financial literacy, & ACT prep sessions led by industry professionals — gaining real-world skills for life after graduation.

The Rockford Area Arts Council announced its Poetry Out Loud Regional winners! Aminah Givens from East HS earned 1st place and Mikiah Gerrity from Jefferson HS earned 2nd. Both advance to the Illinois State Competition!

We’re proud of all who took the stage: Silvana Knox from JHS, Ace Cox from EHS, Sophie Bolanos from EHS, Vanessa Malyanh from JHS, and Geannie Chounlamountry from JHS.

Thank you to the teachers who inspired their students to share their voices and love of poetry!

Congrats to Jefferson HS senior Mikiah Gerrity! Mikiah was recognized at Tuesday’s City Council meeting as Rockford’s 2026–27 Youth Poet Laureate. She will promote literacy & literature among residents of all ages. Mikiah is a state Poetry Out Loud champ.

Good afternoon, softball open gym and girls basketball practice are canceled tonight. Other activities will continue as scheduled.

All RPS 205 schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 23, due to cold weather. All after-school activities will also be cancelled including Y Care. The RPS 205 Administration Building, Sterling Holley, & the Operations Support Center will be open.

The Rockford School District is closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
